Our Story
It Started with Two Places we love
The Highmark Collection began in early 2026 with a simple idea: a short-term rental shouldn't feel like a stopover — it should feel like a place built specifically for you.
We started with two cities we already loved, Asheville and Chattanooga, and set out to design spaces around how our guests actually live and travel: remote workers who need a real desk and fast WiFi, couples chasing a weekend getaway, music lovers who'd rather drop a needle on vinyl than scroll a phone, and travelers who bring their dog along because why wouldn't they.

The Highmark Stations
Every Highmark property is organized around a set of signature "Stations" — dedicated corners of the home built for one purpose each, done well: a workspace, a place to get ready or wind down, a pet setup, a music station. It's a small structural choice that makes a big difference: instead of one generic living area trying to do everything at once, you get spaces that actually work for what you came to do.

We're a small, hands-on operation — not a franchise, not a management company running hundreds of identical units. Every detail, from the vinyl selection to the neon sign, was chosen specifically for that city and that building. That's what "boutique" is supposed to mean, and it's the standard we hold ourselves to on every stay.

Lewis Jones
Lewis Jones founded The Highmark Collection after a long career in technology services, most of it with IBM and later Kyndryl, the company spun off from IBM in 2021 as the world's largest IT infrastructure services provider. Over those years he held leadership positions serving major retail, consumer products, travel, and hospitality clients. That work sharpened the strengths he now brings to Highmark: an understanding of hospitality, lasting client relationships, operational discipline, and an unwavering attention to detail.
Highmark grew out of two long-held passions: hospitality and entrepreneurship. Lewis saw the chance to build something of his own, a small collection of homes where every stay reflects the standards he spent a career delivering for his clients.
The Highmark Collection is designed for travelers who want a curated, boutique experience in a setting more comfortable and personal than a hotel. Each property, in Asheville, Chattanooga, and Greenville, was designed by Somerled Designs, the leading custom design firm in the US focused on short-term rental properties. The result is a home that feels considered from the front door to the final detail.
Lewis and his wife, Mary, an attorney, live in Atlanta, where they raised their four children. He is active in civic causes in the city and is a proud UGA graduate and passionate Georgia Bulldogs fan. Away from Highmark, he enjoys travel, fitness, and the outdoors.
